'BEYOND CONTEMPT' by Peter Jukes - Publication News!

Latest from Inforrm's Blog on the exciting new book, 'BEYOND CONTEMPT' by Peter Jukes - live-tweeter extraordinaire of the Phone-hacking Trial:

News: Phone Hacking Trial Book to be Published Next Month

26 06 2014 Book JPEGThe first full “uncensored” account of the phone hacking trial by journalist Peter Jukes is to be published within weeks, Canbury Press announced today.Beyond Contempt: The Inside Story of the Hacking Trial will be speedily released in e-book format by the end of July 2014.
Peter Jukes was named Britain’s best social media journalist for his live-tweeting of the trial at the Old Bailey.
Over eight months the prosecution delved deep into the News of the World and the Sun – and found widespread criminality, intrusion and bullying. But the behind-the-scenes legal battles and personal dramas were the subject of reporting restrictions.
Beyond Contempt will contain all the action the media was legally barred from publishing.
Peter Jukes, who funded his live-tweeting from public donations, said:
“Now that the verdicts are in, this book will go beyond the restrictions imposed on the media by the Contempt of Court Act, hence its title.  If you want to know how Rebekah Brooks came to be acquitted and Andy Coulson convicted, this is the book for you.”
Martin Hickman, founder of Canbury Press, the book’s publisher, said:
“The Murdoch press has already started to kick back against the trial, using a bogus £100 million figure to claim it was a waste of money. As the judge acknowledged, the case was important for British justice – and there was a lot more going on than the public was told.”
Beyond Contempt will be sold in four formats:
  • A quick release e-book, to be published at the end of July
  • First edition signed paperback with free e-book
  • The e-book and a paperback dedicated to the buyer and an invite to the launch party with special guests;
  • A VIP access-all-areas pass.
Beyond Contempt: The Inside Story of the Phone hacking Trial is available for pre-order now at www.hackingtrial.com

Dacre Grimly Determined...

According to the Mail on Sunday today ( Note the by-line - David Rose - again!) -

Bombshell by Leveson's own adviser: His law to gag press is illegal as it breaches Human Rights Act (but she's banned from telling you what she advised inquiry)

  • Shami Chakrabarti blasts Labour leader Ed Miliband’s ‘hasty and ill-considered’ endorsement of the report
  • Director of Liberty also rebuked pro-legislation pressure groups such as Hacked Off for 'ill-informed debate'
By David Rose

This headline and the article beneath prompted a cacophony this morning of  'Told you so!' from the press and political commentators, and 'Traitor!' from those who believed a member of Lord Justice Leveson's panel would at least have seen his hymn sheet if not prepared  publicly to sing from it!

Then came:
This is taken from an article in the Inforrm Blog , written by Hugh Tomlinson QC. He continues:

Also:

The article in the Mail on Sunday is remarkable not only for the disingenuous inaccuracy of Mr Rose' prose, but for the inclusion of some of the most cleverly chosen images I've seen for a long time.... have a look! A case of 'They're wrong - just see by their photos how wrong they are!'

Mr Dacre, do have a quick shufti at your foot - I think you may have shot yourself in it.

UPDATE: 16:03 p.m. :

Liberty have just posted this article - explaining why the Mail on Sunday got Shami Chakrabarti's meaning so wrong...
